Women Initiate Divorce At Higher Rate Than Men

It is not that women are generally more dissatisfied in marriage than men so why is it that they start 85% or more of the divorce proceedings in the United States? It’s because they know that they have the advantage in divorce concerning finances and child custody so, essentially, they have less to lose and more to gain from divorcing an unhappy marriage. As far as the mens divorce situation goes the man must do several vital things in order to protect himself during what could be a legal battle. First and foremost he must get a lawyer. This could be costly but is well worth the investment in the long run. Secondly he needs to document an inventory of all mutual assets and property and retain copies of all important documents. Even if the divorce is uncontested both parties must protect their interests.
