It is often caused by scratching and not keeping the wounds clean. These infections prolong healing and can result in serious scarring. Having scars from eczema is bad enough, but having scars on your face will leave you with an embarrassing and constant reminder of your illness. This is why it is important that you do all you can to prevent a secondary infection in your eczema.
