Taxes and Alcohol Abuse?

Alcohol abuse is a major problem in American society, therefore finding a way to lessen the problem is on the minds of many people. Would raising the taxes on alcohol reduce the amount of alcohol abuse in our society? Would raising the taxes on alcohol lessen drunk driving and other alcohol related issues? If the answer is yes to these questions, then the next question asked is how much should alcohol taxes raise?

Even if the alcohol tax would raise this does not mean that alcohol abuse would stop all together. There would still be the problem alcoholics that would continue to abuse alcohol no matter what the price became. Therefore, the taxes would only help with the alcohol abuse problem that American society has.
