Main Causes of Back Pain and Sciatica

The main causes of Sciatica are irritation or compression of sciatic nerve, lumbar nerve (L4 and L5) and sacral nerve (S1, S2 and S3). Sciatica is considered as a lumber radiculopathy when it is causes by compression of nerve root. Lumber radiculopathy can occur from spinal disk herniation and from misalignment and enlarging of vertebrae. Spinal disk herniation is a herniated intervertebral disc. The degenerated discs which can reduce the diameter of lateral foramen can also cause lumber radiculopathy. Nerve root exist the spine through lateral foramen.
