The importance of having a project hotline
May 29, 2008 2:12 pm BusinessIn my project management consulting business, I always give my clients a way to contact me — a “hot line” where they can reach me at any time, 24/7. This not only gives my client a tremendous piece of mind (knowing that they can contact me if problems arise) but it also helps me to do my job better. Very simply, I can’t be an effective consultant if I don’t know what’s going on — and if my client has a hotline, they can contact me instantly whenever there are significant developments in how their project is unfolding. For me, a cell phone works best as I always carry it with me — they also have the option of sending me an e-mail, which I can read at my desk, on my laptop at home, or on my Blackberry.
