The challenges of contracts development in a foreign country

A friend recently experienced this first hand s whilst working offshore. Negotiating contracts on foreign soil presents a whole range of legal and cultural challenges. In the western world, there are certain conventions that can be reasonably anticipated to apply. On foreign soil, unfamiliarity with cultural procedures and the inherent challenges of dealing with foreign laws requires a specialized level of knowledge to successfully navigate through all the issues at hand to reach a conclusive and workable business agreement.
