School Conferences
May 26, 2008 4:20 am BusinessAt one of the elementary schools where I used to teach, we had a very large population of Spanish-speaking parents. The teachers wanted to keep them updated on their children’s progress, but found it difficult for them to do so unless they spoke Spanish. A few teachers did speak enough to get by, but not enough to really connect with the parents and involve them in school happenings. The district decided to hire a Spanish language translator to help solve this problem. The translator prepared bulletins in Spanish as well as attended any conferences where translation was needed. This helped improve communication, which provided a higher quality education for students.
