Consumer Debt Solutions and Finding an Apartment

Today,  many landlords will try to obtain a credit report.  As may be expected, if you have problems paying your bills, it may indicate you will not pay your rent.  At the same time, people that are under financial stress will do all kinds of things.  This may include causing damage to the interior of the apartment, as well as create problems with other tenants. 

 

Therefore, if you have debt issues, you may want to explain that you have taken steps (consumer debt solutions) to alleviate the situation.  If you have signed up for debt counseling, you may want to indicate this on your application.  Unfortunately, your prospective landlord may still prefer to choose a tenant that does not have any present debt related problems.
