77 Year Old Californian Waitress Retires from Restaurant Job after 47 Years
May 31, 2008 10:17 am BusinessA 77 year old waitress by the name of Contreras finally feels she is ready to retire from the restaurant industry after working for 47 years a Californian restaurant called Mexicali. Contreras, who was not asked to retire but chose to, was born in Pecos, Texas and is from a generation that once they found a job, they stuck with that job and retired from that job.
“People need work,” says Contreras. “Especially young people who are paying for college.” She states that the only reason she thought it was good idea to retire now was to open up more restaurant jobs for other people to apply for.
