Browsing for Batman Movies

I was browsing around the internet a while back and noticed quite a few movie titles now contain #1,2,3 or returns in the title. I don’t really understand why that happens. If a movie was a blockbuster the first time,like say for example the batman movie,Star Wars or Friday the 13th,why mess with it by making a second one.Is it that Hollywood producers have overflowing brains and must unload their ideas on us unsuspecting fools or are the just in it for the big bucks?I guess thats a question we could only have answered by one of them.
